Ken Vance Georgia State House Rep District 149

Public service has been at the heart of my entire career. From humble beginnings in a rural community to leadership roles in law enforcement, education and politics, I have a unique ability to meet people where they are, and a genuine desire to address the challenges of this district at the state level. I have worked hard to establish trust with constituents and colleagues in this position, and I am proud of what has been accomplished since 2022. I hope to earn your ongoing support and look forward to continuing my service as a champion for conservative values and common sense solutions.

As a Republican State Representative, Ken has demonstrated his commitment to maintaining fiscal responsibility, limited government, conservative family & community values, and protecting constitutional rights. He has been a staunch advocate for public safety and law enforcement at state and local levels. With experience in the classroom, Ken lends his first-hand perspective when decisions are made in Atlanta to the impact on teachers, students and schools in our rural communities. With a true passion for service, Ken understands that legislation only makes life better when it enables the opportunities for citizens to have jobs, live in a safe community, get a quality education for their children and ensure access to quality healthcare across our state.

In his first term at the Georgia State House, Ken served as Vice Chairman of the State Properties Committee, much of which is in Baldwin County with CSH, YDC, and other state owned property. He also served on the Public Safety and Homeland Security committee as well as Agriculture & Consumer Affairs. He has also demonstrated his connectivity and leadership throughout the community with top notch constituent services putting people over politics and enabling solutions for day-to-day issues in the district.

Key Issues

As a dedicated Republican State Representative, Ken champions fiscal responsibility, public safety, and quality education while addressing community challenges with common sense solutions.

Key Issues

  • Inflation’s impact on the local economy is not only driving up prices in the grocery store, it’s forcing retirees back into the workforce to make ends meet, and is putting a strain on our budget for local infrastructure. Ken has been an advocate for our local businesses, for protecting agriculture as our state’s biggest economic driver, and for policies that keep money in the hands of our taxpayers to ease the burden of inflation.

  • Spending over 50 years in law enforcement, Ken has learned a lot about the humanity and connection required to truly serve and protect his community. He is driven to take care of law enforcement officers at all levels as they face the challenges in their communities from the weight of the mental health crisis, to issues with fentanyl and illegal immigration that are making their way into our state. Ken will continue to champion policies that protect and serve those who are on the front lines and make sure that legislation does not hamper their ability to do their jobs effectively and keep our communities safe.

  • As an educator, Ken has taught English at multiple levels in High School as well as public safety courses at the college level. He has gained empathy and understanding working with students from diverse backgrounds, and developed innovative solutions in the classroom. He is dedicated to protecting local control in education and speaks up on the impact of legislation in Atlanta on the teachers, students and public school systems in rural parts of our state. He knows first-hand that by supporting local schools, communities can attract good industries, and by improving the focus on fundamentals in the classroom, schools are better equipped to prepare students to fulfill those jobs.
